Quartz Hill 1952

This was the house where mom, me, Valerie, Martha and Cynthia lived when the folks divorced. It was a two bedromm mansion with a single bath, a front room with a couch, a kitchen with tables and chairs and a small service porch that had a water heater and a washing machine of sorts that had a hand cranked wringer on top. Had to hang the clothes on the line outside to dry. The water heater pilot would occasionally go out and mom would twist up a piece of news paper, light it with a match and stick it into the heater. When the pilot would ignite so would the burners. BOOM, mom would be yelling and swinging her hands at her hair. It would singe up real good. She didn't remember that... but I sure did. LOL.

Mom, Valerie and Martha slept in the bed in one room and Cyndi and I in the other... we had bunk beds, me on top. There was also a shed out back.

The top photo is what it looked in 2009, and the bottom... what it looked like in 1952.
